    Start with an early idea, not a full brief. Sketching, form exploration and concept refinement. Deliverables: sketches, concept renders.

  • 3D CAD Modelling and Rendering

    Models and renders to evaluate form

    and communicate ideas. Visualization

    models are distinct from production

    CAD. Deliverables: CAD files, renders.

  • Prototyping and Production

    Physical prototypes to test form, fit and function, then small to large batch production through an associated manufacturing partner. 

    Deliverables: prototypes, pre-production samples, production runs.

FAQ

How are projects priced?

Pricing depends on scope, complexity and deliverables. After an initial conversation, I’ll send a scope and estimate before any work begins.

Can I approach you with just an idea?

Yes. Many projects start as a sketch, a description or a problem to solve. We’ll talk through your goals and work out which stage of design and development you need.

Can you work from an existing CAD model or drawings?

Yes. I can refine an existing model, prepare it for prototyping or manufacturing, or produce dimensioned technical drawings from it.

Can you take a design into production?

Yes. we can make prototypes to test form, fit and function, and approved designs can move into small to large batch manufacturing through an associated manufacturing firm.

What does an industrial designer do, and who needs one?

An industrial designer shapes how a physical product looks, works and is made, from the first sketch through CAD, drawings and prototypes. Startups, small businesses and inventors hire us to turn an idea into something a manufacturer can produce. ThomasFDesign is an independent industrial design studio in the Greater Toronto Area. I work with clients across Toronto and the GTA, and with clients elsewhere in Canada and abroad through video calls and shared files.
